Stephen Colbert in Congress

September 24, 2010

This is surreal — and hilarious:

Video of the entire hearing available here.

Ehh. I’ve only just now seen this, but heard on the Glenn Beck program of all places, that someone in Congress had asked him to leave because he was making a mockery of the institution (believe it or not, Beck defended Colbert, and his right to be there, throughout the segment even aginst his cohorts’ criticisms). I’d have to say, while I found what he said funny in that very sad sort of way, I don’t particularly think that the Congressional floor is the proper place for the nature of that address.

I just saw some later footage where he answers questions not in character, and may have changed my mind a little. I was under the apparently false impression that he was in character the whole time, and didn’t realize that he answered any question in a serious manner.

I’ll just go watch the rest of it before I comment further 🙂
